Many Houston restaurants and bars have started serving up spicy spirits. Since the 1930’s people have had an affinity for a good spicy Bloody Mary; now is the time for the other spicy cocktails to shine. The new El Gran Malo Bar offers a plethora of tequila infusions and specialty drinks; and many of these are bringing the heat!
The infusions start with 100% Agave tequila and fresh, organic and often seasonal ingredients are added to create unique combination of flavors. A few of my favorite and notable mentions…
*Texas Roasted Pecan with Cayenne Pepper and Sea Salt (Infused Tequila) - This made an amazing margarita. It reminded me of a pecan pie, with a hint of spice.
*Three Chiles (Infused Tequila) -This one cleared the sinuses with the 3 different types of Chiles. I love anything spicy and this one did not disappoint.
*Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita (specialty drink from the menu) – It was crafted with fresh strawberries along with fresh sliced jalapeno. I usually do not go for fruity margaritas; this one was very refreshing and not to sweet.
A plethora of tequila AND a tequila shrine in the building; let’s all assume the position and give praise to El Gran Malo for not being afraid to kick up the heat!
